More Possibilities with SMILE-M10
AlphaESS introduced the new-generation SMILE-M10 for Australian households at its Sydney event, reported on 30 June 2026. Our 10kW package pairs it with two 13.99kWh batteries.
Four MPPTs. More Solar Flexibility.
Up to 20kW of PV input on the 10kW M10, equivalent to 200% PV oversizing. Four MPPTs support flexible roof layouts. Solar design must meet input limits and network requirements; oversizing does not double AC output.
Storm Guard
When enabled with your complete address in the AlphaESS app, qualifying local Warning-level weather alerts trigger charging towards 100%. Trading and scheduled discharge pause until the alert clears. Backup still requires a suitable installed backup arrangement.
Active Temperature Control
AlphaESS identifies active temperature control as an M10 feature. Site suitability still matters: battery performance can reduce with temperature and state of charge. Manufacturer guidance recommends protected locations and an optimal battery temperature of 15–30°C.
Backup Designed Around Your Home
M10 supports whole-home or selected-circuit backup when correctly designed and wired. Available power and runtime depend on connected loads, stored energy and equipment limits. Maxim assesses and prices backup separately.
30+ VPP Integrations
AlphaESS advertises compatibility with more than 30 mainstream VPP platforms. Participation depends on provider acceptance, your location, energy plan and system configuration. We confirm suitability before enrolment; returns are not guaranteed.

The AlphaESS app brings system status and energy monitoring together, helping you manage solar, battery and household energy. AlphaESS maintains Australian offices and after-sales support, alongside your direct Maxim installer contact.
The M10 features above are not automatically attributed to the SMILE-M5-S. Configuration, operating settings and applicable connection limits are confirmed for your quotation.

BloombergNEF Tier 1 Recognition
AlphaESS Australia reports four consecutive quarters of BloombergNEF Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer recognition, from Q4 2025 through Q3 2026.
This is a manufacturer-level classification based on qualifying project deployments and BloombergNEF’s methodology. It is not a safety certification, performance guarantee or warranty for the SMILE-M5-S or SMILE-M10. We assess the equipment and installation requirements for your individual property.

5kW or 10kW: Is the $800 Upgrade Worth It?
kWh measures stored energy. kW measures power delivered or charged at a moment in time. Both packages contain the same two SMILE-M-BAT-13.9P batteries and the same 27.98kWh storage capacity.

The 10kW option can be worthwhile if your household regularly needs more than 5kW at once, or your solar and charging plan benefits from higher inverter power. It does not double your stored energy or guarantee twice the runtime. Battery output, solar availability, temperature, state of charge and system settings still apply.
Your electricity distributor’s connection approval and export limit may restrict what the system can export. A 10kW inverter does not automatically permit 10kW export. Backup circuits and available backup power are assessed separately and quoted as additional work.

Warranty, Datasheet & Installation Requirements
AlphaESS publishes 10-year product and 10-year battery performance warranties for the SMILE M-Series. The linked Australian terms list SMILE-M5-S, SMILE-M10-S-INV and SMILE-M-BAT-13.9P in their product scope.
Product cover runs from installation and is subject to the warranty terms, including installation to the manufacturer’s instructions by an appropriately accredited installer with a valid AlphaESS Installer ID, commissioning, registration and required internet connectivity. Operating conditions and energy-throughput limits apply to battery performance cover.
Battery performance terms: the published document’s detailed capacity-retention list does not explicitly name the 13.9P battery, although the product scope does. We confirm the applicable retention guarantee and throughput conditions for your exact battery in the supplied warranty documents before you accept the quote.
The manufacturer’s M10 documentation uses the system designation SMILE-M10-S and inverter model SMILE-M10-S-INV. Confirmed equipment models and applicable documents are included with your final quote. Manufacturer warranties are additional to applicable Australian Consumer Law rights.

Property-specific extras
Additional work may include switchboard upgrades, extended cabling, regional travel, equipment removal, ground preparation, a concrete slab, bollards, fire-rated backing, smoke alarms or additional weather protection.
Backup is quoted separately. Three-phase homes are assessed individually and may require additional equipment or connection work.

How much does the AlphaESS 28kWh package cost?
The 27.98kWh battery package with a 5kW inverter starts at $3,499. The 10kW inverter package starts at $4,299. Both include GST and an eligible standard installation after applicable STCs.
Does the 10kW option include more battery capacity?
No. Both packages include two 13.99kWh battery units, totalling 27.98kWh. The $800 upgrade changes the inverter power. Actual charge, discharge and backup performance depends on the complete system configuration and operating limits.
Can it work with my existing solar?
Your electrician reviews the existing inverter, solar system and connection arrangements before confirming the suitable configuration and any required changes.
Will it power my home during a blackout?
Backup must be included in the system design and installation scope. We assess the circuits to be protected and quote the required work separately. Runtime and available power depend on battery charge, loads and equipment limits.
Can the batteries fit in a compact space?
We assess the available footprint, manufacturer-approved layout, access and required safety clearances. Your quote confirms the configuration suitable for your property.
Who installs my AlphaESS system?
