Victorian solar panel rebate
Eligible Victorian households can receive a Solar Victoria rebate of up to $1,400 towards an eligible rooftop solar PV system. An optional interest-free loan of up to the same amount may also be available.
For applications submitted from 1 July 2026, key eligibility settings include a combined household taxable income below $150,000 per year and a property value below $3 million. Property, ownership, prior-rebate and product requirements also apply. Some replacement systems over ten years old may now qualify, subject to Solar Victoria rules.

Australian Government battery discount
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides an upfront discount for eligible small-scale batteries connected to new or existing rooftop solar. It is delivered through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme using small-scale technology certificates (STCs).
The actual discount is not a fixed dollar amount. It depends on factors including eligible usable battery capacity, the installation date and the program rules in force at that time. The battery, inverter and installation must meet the relevant eligibility and accreditation requirements.

Federal solar STCs
Eligible rooftop solar systems may create STCs under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The value is normally shown as an upfront discount in the quote. The number and market value of certificates vary with system size, location, installation date and certificate price.

Victorian battery loans
Solar Victoria is no longer accepting applications for its interest-free solar battery loan. This is separate from the Australian Government battery discount, which continues for eligible installations.
